I'm Ethan Ma, an indie developer. The idea for CastLoom Pro came from my own habit: I like listening to podcasts while working. Commuting, coding, or doing chores — podcasts are great background.
But I often hit a wall: a segment is really insightful and I want to save it or re-listen and take notes. That's when I thought — if I could download the episode, transcribe it, and put it in my knowledge base, that would be perfect.
I tried many tools: some only stream, no batch download; some transcribe in the cloud, slow and privacy-concerning; some split features across several apps. I couldn't find one that did search → download → local transcription → translation → export/import in one place. So I built one.
That's how CastLoom Pro started. I spent two weeks on the core: search podcasts by keyword or link, one-click download; local Faster-Whisper for transcription — fast, accurate, and fully on your machine. Then another week on polish, built-in player, one-click translation (DeepL / OpenAI), multi-format export, and Notion/Obsidian integration.
CastLoom Pro now supports Windows and macOS with a 7-day free trial. If you're someone who always wants to keep the good bits from podcasts, I hope it helps.
